I have thought all of the brand-specific streamers were gonna tank, but the one that made me openly laugh upon announcement was Peacock. Disney seemed to have the best chance based solely on its backlog and all the different sources and platforms they already had to pull from (ABC, Disney Channel, Star Wars, Marvel). I kind of assumed that Paramount would have the same problems as Peacock, but at least they had Nickelodeon for the kids and the long history of CBS classics for the olds. They’re diverse. Peacock had nothing, other than the shows people were paying other services to watch in between their original content. But (especially with how removing episodes has gone lately) I ended up just buying boxed sets of The Office, Parks and Rec, Psych, Community, and several others of theirs I liked. The only thing they have to offer me are the occasional new Psych movies, but I’ve taken to the seas to get those. Even the ones that had a shot of being successful were bad investments, Peacock was a joke.

My only real disappointment with season one was that we didn't get a scene with The Ghoul blowing people to bits to "Big Iron" from New Vegas

One thing to note when comparing Peacock subscriber numbers to Paramount+, is that Paramount+ is included in Walmart+. And Walmart plus has over 60 million members, so a great portion of the Paramount+ subscribers might actually just be from Walmart. Now of course Paramount gets something from that deal, but these subscribers are not paying anything directly to Paramount.

I don't think streaming is going to be around for the long term. I actually think it's on the downgrade right now because of cost people used to complain how expensive cable was but no cable is looking as a bargain versus streaming. You get four streaming networks and you're paying as much for cable and then when you look at the cable channels all the movies that are on the streaming networks are on cable channels.

I don't get the whole cultural thing of violence is fine - which ignores all the science. But nudity is somehow bad -which also ignores all the science. I don't understand my own culture. You can see 1,000 people die, but your brain would melt if you saw a nipple. Or what would happen? Something bad no one can define? When I know all the nudity will be censored out, I have no motivation to put down money.

I love football and will refuse to subscribe to any third bit streaming service that is now created. I have UA-camTV which I like and have Amazon Prime (only for the free shipping). I rarely watch Amazon Prime for anything. I refuse to give money to Disney or to any of the alphabet channels because they are politically biased against interests that I have. Even when a football game I wanted to watch on Peacock was on, I refused to even subscribe just to see this. I hope Peacock fails.

Everyone knows the latter seasons are the best - at least that's what I would have said before finding this video randomly. I dont get into the online discourse, but as a Seinfeld fan discussing it over the years with other fans both during the show and in the decade that followed, this has always been the consensus. Larry David leaving had no negative impact, the show got better and better into the ending, which is what made ending the show so hard to accept. It was my weekly sitcom that turned into a weekly event. This isn't like The Office, where it needed to be put to pasture and was out of good ideas.

The movie I liked Goggins in was Predators.

I watched around 30 seasons with few episodes that I skipped. 20 minute an episode, about 20 episodes in a season that's 200 hours or over 8 days of non stop watching. This is so much time and instead watching something for the sake of watching it and wasting more of my time I could go watch something else

I stopper listening when your said peacock only has 31 subscribers. They have 31 paid and many more comp subscribers. They get money from them by ad sales. There are a lot of them out there. Disney+ and Peacock are also loss leaders to promote other brands

I dont know if thia is true since i dont have peacock, but is it true the first 12 seasons of law and order arent avaliable on there? I mean if not, is there a good reason? A lot of people would probably join just to have the early seasons of one of the best police shows ever made.

I can enjoy the show for what it is, I have no problems with that. But to consider it canon? Yeah no, even if God himself said that it is, I would die on that hill before I consider it canon

What I dream of in my heart of hearts is of a massive crowd funding by fans, the hiring of a fincher or nolan to direct and written by a J Michael Straczynski or another uber level writer and put out our own media. Great cinematography, sound, fx and the story on screen gets a pass from me. But I am not interested in grading hollywood fare. Time for us the fans...to take advantage of the fact we no longer need gatekeepers to make film. The spice must flow. It just won't do so from hollywood.

This industry needs a contraction. So much money spent on mediocre content. There is almost connection between revenue and costs as huge corporations borrow from profitable lines of business to throw money at insane ideas. A limited amount of talent is spread thinner across more shows. Shows dont have enough time to write quality content for their elevated ambition. Streamer shows are cancelled before they ever conclude. They all look exactly the same. All the best shows on streaming services pre exist their platform.

I have peocock (only when there is a big sale) for Indycar and Imsa. The rest is garbage I avoided when it first aired.
